Press Release: Veröffentlicht am in Healthcare

The Swedish pharmaceutical company Apoteket is investing in the fast-growing e-commerce segment and has commissioned KNAPP to build an ultra-modern logistics center in Eskilstuna. The new e-commerce warehouse will start operation at the end of 2022.

Apoteket’s e-commerce business has experienced strong growth in recent years since more and more people are ordering their medicines and pharmacy products online. The pandemic has accelerated this trend. Apoteket expects this growth to increase in the coming years. “We have made the strategic decision to build a new top-modern logistic center. Thus we will have complete control of our entire e-commerce business and we will be able to develop it optimally”, states Olle Carls project leader for Apoteket’s new logistic center.

KNAPP to deliver fully automatic solution with intelligent software package

At the end of January, Apoteket and KNAPP signed the contract for a pioneering e-commerce solution for the logistics park in Eskilstuna, west of Stockholm. KNAPP AG will deliver central belt systems with autopickers for fast- and slow-movers, so-called KNAPP-Stores, and manual stations for picking and packing. The KiSoft software package with comprehensive WCS and WMS functionalities rounds out the deal.

Decades of experience in the pharmaceutical sector

The order is worth tens of millions for KNAPP. With its subsidiary in Astorp, Sweden, KNAPP can provide optimal customer support on site. “The new installation at Apoteket has the most powerful state-of-the-art technology available in the healthcare sector. Our many references in pharma e-commerce, the newest technologies and the comprehensive functionality of our WMS are the reasons we were awarded the contract,” says KNAPP Healthcare Director Horst Matzer. “We are looking forward to continue to work together and this is one of several new exiting solutions for our customers in the Nordic region”, Mikael Holmquist, Managing Director KNAPP Nordics, adds.
